Question 6

Over the construction of my magazine I think I have learnt a lot. When I say a lot I mean in the way to construct a magazine, the simple conventions to make a magazine, the technology to create the magazine and I moulded creativity to produce it.  The most important thing I have learnt is that a magazine will never look good without clear, great looking images. They are what make the magazine look appealing to they eye of the audience.

(the original image)
This professional image took by a very good photographer who I got permission off to use it shows exactly how vital an image is to the overall look of the magazine. You want the images to reflect the quality of its contents.

I will then show you how the image complimented the contents of my contents both the font and the article itself. Another thing I have learnt through this was how to corporate other software into Photoshop such as the website ransom note generator that allowed me to create the font I dreamed of to then put onto my magazine by uploading it to Photoshop.

With the help of a patience teacher I got to know the software Photoshop a lot better. I learned how first impressions are never right when it comes to technology with some practice I developed skills that made the software simple to use.

Tools like the wizard tool allowed me to blend an image upon an image to blend perfectly and not look messy. Adding professionalism into my work was key to pick up the marks, especially when I needed to blend the barcode upon the front cover but not make it look unprofessional and not affect the overall theme and look of my magazine.

I learned how to create boxes and effects upon my text to make them stand out from my colour theme of black, that was important to learn because it allows the audience to clearly read my text. It created a theme that could attract my target audience.

(The image with an invisible box, 4 different fonts, software from a ransom note generator. The Outer glow effect on by sub heading. These are all things I had learnt through making my magazine)

I also learned how to cooperate other sites into one magazine, in a sense that I could bring social sites into a physical magazine.  I was diving into many genres with the technology at my disposable, my magazine was both online and in your hands.

Question 5

http://masher.com/myMashes.jsp

For question five I decided to answer it by making a movie slide on Masher.com in which i made a video with a music file on it. This would allow me to develop my skills and create a nice viable presentation. I answered the question 'How did you attract/address your audience?' I simply took an informal writing approach to build calm and laid back relationship between the reader and writer, to try and gain their trust and loyalty so they would come back. As my age group is young adults I used certain lexical choices they could relate to a semantic field they would acknowledge as their own. In doing this, they will end up thinking the magazine is somewhat cool, by using swear words. the swear words makes a younger audience unable to read and older generation to be applaud by it but teenagers seem to have a unique approach to life and I believe they won’t be effected by my lexical choice.

The fonts and colours relate to the topic rock with very dark colour theme mainly black, white and grey. These colours represent the music my magazine is covering but as well covers the readers and for that they will be attracted to the magazine as these colours to do interest them and everyone who likes rock.

The images captures live gigs, in which are very much populated by a young audience, therefore these images will appeal to my rock young adult’s targeted audience.

Competitions will make the audience more interactive because you have to go online to enter with links to social networks in which the majority of people who are online are advanced young adults and teens. Therefore this perfectly appeals and gets the reader to interact with the magazine.

Question 2

I answered this question by doing a presentation on Microsoft PowerPoint with many effects on to show a range of skills, however I could not upload it to Blogger so i tried to upload it to slide share again I was unsuccessful. So I decided to use the snipping tool then save each image of my presentation to display. Although the readers will not get the effect of my presentation affects you can still see I intended to do a presentation.

Question 7

Question 7

When I started in September on my preliminary task I was new to Photoshop I had never used the equipment so I was just picking up the skills which I was not good in. I had little experience and it was clearly evident as my images didn’t show any professionalism as well, I was also new to the camera. Couple months on and still not good at using a camera I had to get permission from the bands themselves luckily they allowed me after I told them what it was for. Now with great images I couldn’t ruin the look like my preliminary task which was not used great the colours did not match as I didn’t have a colour pallet plan. Learning by my mistakes I knew what not to do to my main magazine. I learnt how to corporate online websites to my magazine. I also learnt how to pick up simple marks such as; adding links to social websites, a masthead, slogans, and quality images. Creating my magazine meant I could focus on a type of music I like, and as I knew the genre well I knew what images, lexical choice and colours would reflect the magazine better. The preliminary task, I did not know who my target audience was or what the contents of it were. Through my main music magazine I learnt how to blend, the wizard tool, the invisible box, how to convey colours together well and most importantly adding fonts to the system.

Question 4

http://www.fromtexttospeech.com/texttospeech_output_files/0619281001398947382/1918869.mp3

The audience of my magazine would be ages based in the teenage category, an age in which my magazine can use explicit text and views but also not too graphic, this also stretches to young adults then to anyone who likes music and reading. The ideal audience is a group of people who like underground, unsigned music and want to discover something new, with interests in music and reading would be very vital as my magazine brings the two interests into one. My magazine does not discriminate but does heavily rely on peoples interests on the genre rock, as most of the bands featured in my magazine there will be of such genre. I think any age; any person should be able to read my magazine. But, to be successful I need to shortened my audience to strictly point out exactly the people I’m trying to attract and with rock I think this does allow me to focus on a group of people who would enjoy my magazine and keep buying it.

Defining a target audience allows my magazine to stick to themes of colours that suits the genre rock, so I do not have to change any format or colours each week. Distinguishing a target audience that is centred on the look of my magazine will attract the audience I want and the audience I want would have to enjoy music.

Media Evaluation Question 2

I decided to create an image that would act as a poster to answer question 2 to evaluate. For this I had to upload images from the internet as well as using a font generator to get certain fonts. i used the software Photoshop to create all of this because i know it very well after using it for my magazine. I also though creating a poster in which shows elements of creativity and contents used from other software’s onto one showed my skill range.

Evalution Question 1

I used the software Prezie to create this presentation. It allowed me to get to know how to use the site but also create a video answering my question. I got to choose colours, layout, sizes and shapes and even the movement of the camera.

Pictures choice

This Justin Bieber picture was taken from his 2011 tour at the Metro Radio Arena. I was going to choose this picture (even though it does not match my colour scheme) to show diversity within my magazine to not be prejudice towards other music genre’s. This image captures a young teenager with millions of followers worldwide playing above the audience. I thought by placing this image in i could expand my target audience and try and attract a wider audience from more genres of music not just the one I’m currently targeting. The shot perfectly shows symbolism through the power Justin Bieber has among his fans by being above them looking down them. The image is looking up to Justin Bieber this shows wiliness from the fans that they would do anything for this one person that they idolise. In the end i did not use it as it doesn’t match the theme of Rock my magazine is.

Again this image is great. I would have been good to use because of the lighting and colour scheme of this image. It matches my magazine’s colour perfectly. But the reason i did not pick it was because Mcfly have a huge following and support. The purpose of my magazine is to showcase young and up and coming talent. Sticking to my purpose it wouldn’t be right to promote well known bands.

The images of ETL (Enter The Lexicon) I did not use was because I feature on them heavily throughout my magazine a bit too much at times. Also because some of the images did not suit the look, the colour schemes didn’t match and it just wasn’t working. I didn’t want to lose valuable marks by placing images that didn’t look presentable with my magazine

Weekly account of my magazine work

Week one: I started to make plans on the kind of look that I want my magazine to look like, laying down the foundation to follow. This allowed me to have an image in my head, allow thoughts to actually have a plan in mind. I then got permission of local bands I like to use their images for my magazine with permission from them I then went onto upload the images onto the colleges system. I also needed to revise my Photoshop skills as they were rusty. With this in mind I then could then go onto choosing my text, which I changed my mind on several times.

Week two: My double page spread was well under way; it was shaping up to be a good double page spread. With a black and white image that suited my colour scheme nicely. It was vital I had chosen and image, text and layout as this set the tone for the rest of my magazine in the way it is presented to an audience.

Week three: With my double page spread completed, I then moved onto (in my opinion) both the hardest yet most important part of any magazine, the thing that attracts others to read it. The front cover. For my double page spread I concentrated on the outer glow, and invisible box these allowed my writing to be both readable and attractive to read. The reason I had no order in which I did the magazine was purely due to my creativity. I did what came first into my head and that so happened to be my double page spread.

Week four: The front cover was nearly done with the masthead chosen, barcode in place, image size was correct.

Week five: The start on my contents page, in which several images will appear on.

Thursday, 27 March 2014

In this double page spread we see NME devote two page features on the indie rocker Pete Doherty. The casual look of the double page theme is especially styled to Pete Doherty’s style, the colours, skin and the drinks in his hand set the colour scheme. Orange, white and black seem to be the running colour pallet throughout this NME double page spread. NME’s colour scheme is based on red and white therefore it seems unordinary for them to break their conventional colours that people are used to seeing in NME this double page spread breaks the rules of NME. This shows that Pete Doherty is an A-list musician and very special to both NME and UK readers. The context of the magazine brought out in 2013 makes it look like NME have found his lost star and is now showing him again to the public world “we were surprised to hear” even NME are shocked that Pete is still exploiting himself in the music industry. Although the interview was based on Pete talking about his band BabyShambles, NME seem to focus more on Pete than the band he is trying to promote this shows me Pete is bigger than the band and that why NME’s purpose is to focus more on Pete so the targeted audience get more of Pete. Mostly indie and mods read NME therefore the majority of readers’ would have already likes or even loved Pete and his music. Therefore, people will start buying NME to see their favourite indie rocker back. The consumers’ will be buying this from supermarkets or gas stations because that is where magazines seem popular as independent music stores cannot afford to keep up with the mainstream sellers, as supermarket’s are normally closer to people’s homes therefore quicker to get to and cheaper to travel to.

The double page spread follows all conventions, in the sense that there is a colour scheme, folio, and drop capitals, three columns of writing, quotes and headings. The logo is a recurring theme on each page of NME followed by the page number so readers’ can follow along easily. The gutter is seen on the bottom and top of the page. The margins seem easily detected, is seems a basic casual double page spreads for such an exclusive interview, even Pete in the interview looks casual in a bar having a drink is this to show even though he was in a hugely popular band in early 2000’s that he is still close to his fans connecting with them on an informal way, gaining a relationship with the readers as well. You can also tell that this is not the first time NME have seen Pete otherwise they would of made a great deal, this shows to me Pete is a genuine nice guy not trying to exploit his fame just trying to promote his music in an un-showbiz like way. This is reinforced in the way Pete is staring directly into the camera lens, not trying to pose, just looking into the reader’s eyes. A whole page is dedicated to a picture of Pete; however a tiny image is shown of the band that the article should be on. The only time the band stands out is when a quote from another band member saying someone asked him “is Pete still your singer?” a small image of the band shows how insignificant they are to NME and how important Pete is to the UK music industry.

The heading “in good health” is ironic as it is over the image in which we see the alcoholic drinks in Pete’s hands, drinks that are bad for your health; therefore it is very dramatic irony.

There are many uses of starburst, which simply is there to make the reader want to either read further into the magazine or simply buy it. We see this trough the quote within the main image and the quote that is bigger than all the other text showing that that point in the article may be the most important piece.

This double page spread offers more than just text to the readers but offers appealing images and extras for the eyes, this helps the overall presentation and look of the double page spread, it is important to have images relating to the article. This helps establish the theme of the double page spread and the identity of the magazine and look of the band and the magazine.

Double Page Spread

This double page spread is of two musicians coming together to do a separate music project rather than doing the one they are most known for. Even though they both are very similar individuals from very similar backgrounds, influences and even music genre this magazine says they are two different worlds are coming together so we are getting the best of both worlds. I think because they work in a very demanding and unstable music industry where one day you can be top of the charts but the next day not knowing where you are next going to sleep in a country you have never been before hoping a fan will allow you to sleep on their floor; because of this they will be seen as rivals in two competitive bands trying to win over fans and be the best indie band out there. You need to be the best out there to survive and for both of these front men they have decided to maximize their marketing by collaborating therefore maximizing a fan following from both bands. This is truly evident by the headline “best of both worlds” as both artist are individually centered on different page each whilst the headline is spread over two pages the colour scheme highlights the coming together of these artist as one male (Miles Kane) the colour is orange then it spreads to the other page for another male (Alex Turner) where the colour faded to white although this is effective to show the coming together of two minds but also shows their separation as they are split up by the colour scheme. However throughout the article the text now as it mentions the both artists they mention them as one and for each name they now use the same colour

The lexical choice within the double page spread’s article is very different to the look of the images as the images displays a dark, underground a rock kind of look whereas the article states places with an association of elegance and beauty such as Paris and New York. The fact these terms are being said shows that this project is going to stray away from the rock and indie genre Exciting to readers of the magazine and exciting for fans hearing their favorite artists do something beyond expected. The hidden meaning behind this is that the magazine is saying don’t judge a book by its cover because people can change they can have hidden talents. Plus it makes an individual a better person if they do not stereotype. Also, it surprises a reader who hasn’t heard of these artists before to check this project out as it has surprises their first intentions of the magazine and the genre they originally cover.

The image shows two young men, one of them clearly are looking away from the camera (gazing off the page) this can sometimes have a negative view upon readers as it seems he doesn’t care however he looks carefree, much like the message the band want to express with their music. Whilst the other soaks it up (direct gaze) looking directly at the reader gaining a personal relationship between artist, fan base or even simply the reader hopefully becoming a new fan this makes the idea of idolizing a rock star become reality as the reader seems closer to their idol, what was only a fantasy beforehand. This shows the popularity whilst the on looking towards the camera at the time was the most known however the other artist was in a very popular up and coming indie band heading for huge commercial success. Therefore this represents how one friend is helping another through a struggle to make it in the industry.  Furthermore, both protagonists look ordinary – they are wearing ordinary clothes, in an ordinary setting and are not Photoshopped to look perfect. This links to Dyer’s Star Theory as this particular image influences the audience to ‘buy into’ a constructed representation and associated ideology. They are constructed with a unique selling point in mind to appeal to the audience.

As the ‘The Last Shadow Puppets’ were a new and upcoming band when the magazine was published, it will likely to have been targeted at the explorers in society. Such people are driven by a need for discovery, challenge and new frontiers. They would respond to this page positively as it allows them to gain new information they’d be able to share with friend.

colour pallet

This is my colour pallet, a varity of colours but most of them may not get used as much as the others. However, the first row shows the overall coulour theme to my magazin. Black and white will always be shown throughout the magazine as I am using those colours for the text. Most importantly black will capture the background to most of my images therefore having black is essential to my target audience as well as capturing rock music as a genre. the reason grey is linkied closely with black and white is simply for the colour, as it would act as a inbetween from white to black so it is not such a dramtic change and looks more gradual and that would make it professional.

The second layer of my colour pallet is a mixture of bright colours that are seen in many images I will be using. Therefore it is important to notice them and link them with one another so it is a nice blend rather than one bright mess. Also, the genre Rock could do with a bit of colour as well as my magazine as it is very dark. I think colour will look good and not make the magazine labelled as depressing because black is stereotypically labelled as depressive.

The bottom layer is simply to use to highlight main images, main text. Basically, what I want the audience to notice and take it as key information to remember from the magazine this could be competitons or certain bands, to go away and keep in their mind.

Thursday, 30 January 2014

The first of three double page spread

The lexical choice chosen by NME doesn’t compliment the image shown on the doubler page spread, the only image we are given on it; therefore we have to judge a character by the one image before reading. But, as you can see the image doesn’t suit the lexis chosen because stereotypically opinion upon the main image of the guy is nerd, an intelligent man who would be interested in reading etc. however the contexts states otherwise as it talks about sex, drugs and rock, things we all don’t associate with nerds or geeks. NME is making us question what we know about today’s society and people, therefore we as readers feel as though to gain an understanding and capture back knowledge we need to read on to find out how a nerd is leading a rock star life.

The fact the image is a close up shot targeting the musician’s eyes you can understand why NME have done so because they want you to feel close to a musician’s life as he is opening up about his personal life past and present. Therefore for him to open up to fans and the audience of NME has took courage so the image tries to gain a relationship a sense of bonding between artist and readers. They do this so the audience feels personally connected to NME and gain a relationship with Graham Coxon the guitarist from one of the best British bands of past 20 years. Blur over the years have created a huge fan base is Britain in which NME distribute the magazine. Therefore their target audience will be young music fans discovering older bands as well as middle aged people who knew Blur in the 90’s. Plus over the years Blur has been well documented since their early days in NME so it’ll feel normal for readers to see Blur. Therefore no fans of NME will be lost through promoting the guitarists interview.

Within the headline of the interview they’ve taken a strapline from the actual interview underneath this has been done for the audience who are not interested in Blur. As it’ll cause them not to skip the page and stop to look at the interview as in bold contrasting, different font and size. Hopefully this will catch people’s eyes and discover this artist, in a way NME have been credited for a lot of bands success as people have discovered about them through articles in NME. With words we don’t usually use day to day shows how this interview will be different to any other and any other magazine. These abnormal non days to day words expresses how interesting his life is and how we will want to read about it.

The colour scheme matches the appearance of Graham Coxon he comes across moody, miserable and just generally down. The colour black, white and dark green just sums up his life it’s been a blur to him filled with bad experiences as well as some good ones but overall his life has been a roller-coaster. It’s important that NME have used the same colour within the second page as they’ve used on the first page because it sets a theme for double page spread and doesn’t confuse anyone reading as the article it’s the most important part of the double page spread. In the interview itself is talks about his own personal solo music project away from his band Blur but also talking about his past experiences with that famous band (blur) and what it was like in the 90’s to be in a rock band and what he experienced so the audience gets a bands member point of view on their favourite band.

fonts with commentary

This is called forte. An unconventional font choice but that is my magazine it is not the conventional choice of music magazine you see in shops just like this font that is why I don’t like it.

This is how bold and big I want the most important information like subscriptions and competitions text to be as the readers will see it first. This font is called font choice std

This is called segoe script a font that represents an idea that I will draw for my final font choice as I want it to look natural and with a sense of rock to it as it will capture my target audience.

This font is plain something different to what I want. I’m showing you this to explain the opposite font look I want to go for this one is called texton pro cond

This is called forte. An unconventional font choice but that is my magazine it is not the conventional choice of music magazine you see in shops just like this font that is why I don’t like it.

The conventions, the producer and target audience of my text:

I will stick to all the usual conventions to simply get the basic marks as they all come together to get the grade I want. There will be a mashead in the right hand top corner of the front cover and one big image of the main band I will be talking about within my double page spread. however even though i will have subheadings i will be using pull quote to be the mian headline ojn my front cover it'll be spread across the main image. With my logo text I will be different as i will be drawing them and then using it as my font choice because i could not find a text i liked that would suit my magazine and by doing this it will appeal to my target audience with the grunge rock look of a ink stained logo. The choice of lexis will have some swear words as I want to use lyrics from their songs to target a more open minded audience who have a rebel an open spirit to say. The colour like my whole magazine will be focused on black and white as it will be my theme that will be my unique selling point. It will establish me from other competiors as readers can identify my magazine.

If it was distrubuted within 'the read world' I would not expect huge success as it only focuses on small local bands im just trying to promote north east music and bands within it. Therefore it would be published around record stores where people go for just music and that is my audience, people like me, who go out to find new music discover music and buy music. I'm wasting time by putting the magazine in any other stores as it is not commerical. I think their is a gap in the market a small one that could grow but all it needs is backing from record stores and local venues. To promote venues and bands in newcastle area would be great, with online sales and new modern technology coming out and making it easier to purchase money for free, i think there is a market of people who want the spirit of music back the one where it cuts all the modern 'bull' and just want to discover bands for themsleves fall back in love with music that has been lost for decades.

I like to have an open spirit about most things thertefore should we really neglect any group within society any one in the world can enjoy music and read about it so why target anyone. But, for the purpose of this, my target audience would be 13-25 year olds as they are at that age where they have the energy to buy tickets and wait amnd then stand watching a band for hours. There also at that age where they have limited responsibility no kids no houseto pay for. And have the money and time to go and buy a magazine and read about what they enjoy. however, anyone willing to read and enjoy rock music as the magazine is based on only rock are more than welcome by me, personally.

I fully believe that most of my publicty for the magazine will be from social networking from venues accounts that i will be showing in the magazine and bands that are featuring in the magazine as they are promoting people to buy my magazine whilst im promoting them in my magazine for people to listen to. I know idependent record stores will be very helpful as they allow others to put their magazine within the store.

audience research survey

In question one i simply asked do you buy magazines and the majority said yes (5) with only two people i asked saying no this is a positive feedback for me as I will be producing a magazine knowing people buy magazines.
The second question came back and brought a varity of answers all mixed as you can see people buy magazines differently at different times therefore i will release my magazine monthly.
Question 3 was asking what type of magazine do you read, luckily for me people do read music magazines in which that is my target market.
This question shows that people do not spend much money on magazines therefore i shall keep my product low at one pound and fifty pence.

This question asked what type of music do you listen and it brought back a lot of varity of answers. for me, it brought back that a lot of people listen to rock music which my magazine is based around
Most people buy magazines within a supermarket not the best choice for me as i wanted to place my product in music storesd and as you can see not many people go there to buy a magazine
In this question i got the intended answers i wanted as people believe people buy music magazines whilst a teen which is my targeted audience.
In this question I asked would you buy a music magazine that is based on rock and the mjaority of people said yes.

location shoot planning

Are there any potential hazards that could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place (trailing cables/traffic/other objects )?
At gigs there is always hazards as with so much electrical equipment people have to be careful as a full room of people enjoying music with alcohol can get out of hand. However, like very good venue the venue where my photographs were taken, safety was a crucial concern taken seriously and i enjoyed the gig knowing i was safe as the promoters and the venue supplied staff to check the building in adavnced and everything was in working order. Cables from the bands equipment were only on stage in which the audience and me were well away from.

What will you do to ensure these risks are minimised?

I personally made sure to be careful ensuring i cannot trip over any cables and cannot harm others. The venue staff ensured us all that the venue was safe by going from precedures that were enforced by the law so everything was safe i had no worries.

Will the time of day/weather affect the outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this?
The time, day or weather will not effect the quality of my photogrpahs because all my locations will be indoors in dark venues with stage lighting use as lights. So any time or day i'm fine with.

Have you considered the background to your photos, particularly if taken outside? How will you ensure you will get the background you want?

In some images i want to keep the natural background of the photo but others i hope to edit so i can personaly add touches that will benefit the look of the magazine this is so i can add the logo and title of my magazine upon the images to keep a theme i intended to display.

Have you considered lighting? What about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through a window? Will you need to use a flash? Have you considered reflective objects that might spoil the effect?

I have considered all possible problems. No naturas lighting can affect my photos as in venues there is a shortage of windows in most no windows at all. The only lighting problem i may come across is the stage lighting used at all the gigs I shot at because they can sometimes get blurred when I put flash on. However i avoided the stage ligting by capturing the band when thet lighting was focused on them alone which gave a better image overall

Do you need permission to take photos in the place/venue you have in mind?

No, they were all local venues that were very kind and did not mind at all. but, it was important i got premission from the band and gratefully they did not mind at all.
Do you need to book time in a room (eg the photography studio)?
No I do not.

Are other people/crowds likely to be an issue for you? What have you done to ensure that it will not spoil the effect?

None of these were a problem at all because i wanted to cpature the interaction of the band and the crowd which displays a real enjoyable gig.

Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends’ equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at the appointed time? Plan B?

Everything went to plan, however if i couldnt capture images i was allowed to capture a friends band any time i needed to.

Finally, have you thought of every eventuality…?
yes i have and nothing went wrong as i had full premission of everyone involved in taking the photographs.

photoshoot planning

What emotional impact do you want your photography to have upon the reader and how will you achieve this?

The overall impact I want my photography to achieve upon the reader is not emotional. It's more focused on the impact it would have on your mind in which that would spring a string of emotions. I hope my photogrpahy will leave readers believing they could go out and make their own music and discover their inner-musician and hopefully start their own band of hope and dreams. Giving people goals is what i hope to gain as looking towards the future and being the person you want to be is bigger than the majority of achievements the person will have gained. Enjoying the photography however is the most important emotion i want to get across to the reader as sitting down reading a magazine should bring someone happiness in which photography helps deliver.

What personnel do you need? Who are you going to photograph?

I will photograph close friends who are musicans in rock bands. However, for my larger photos in which will be on the front cover and double page spread I will be using photographs from bands playing live that they themselves have arranged to be photographed. luckily, i have got premission from the bands I will be using to use any image from their facebook page.

How are you going to emphasise colour?

As my magazine will be running along the theme black and white to compliment the rock genre any colour in any of my images that are not black and white will instantly stand out and capture the readers eye I will achieve this by using techniques that are on the software 'Photoshop'.

Have you briefed your personnel/models?

To repeat what i have said previously I have full premission from the band members to use photos of them playing live in which i'm using for my magazine. Also, I have debreifed my friend who will also be in an image im using so he knows why im using images of him.

What lighting will you need? Any other equipment?

Gladly, i do not need any lighting only stage lighting that was provided at a gig, but i will need a working camera to capture the shots i need and also guitars as a guitar will feature within my images within my magazine.

Where will you shoot? Will you need a backdrop?
I will shoot at gigs with people within the crowd and lighting upon the stage overlooking the crowd and the band.

Mise-en-scene - Make-up? Costumes? Props?

Within the image instruments will be heavily featured and other musical equipment. however no props or make up will be needed as rock is all about being yourself expressing yourself through music.

flat plans

This is my flat plan for my contents page in which i will use for my own magazine. I created it via photoshop this helped me as it prepares me for when I use the software in the future for similar projects and more specificaly the creation of my actual magazine which I will be using photoshop for it. Now to focus on the design of my contents page most importantly i kept a masthead at the top right corner of the page as i want to estabilsh a recourring theme that people can identify with as each week and page there will be sepearte topics in and images that dont relate to eachother so for people to know it's my magazine they will be able to recgonise the magazine as our logo and name will be shown throughout magazine. Also in the contents page I have placed an editor collum just so the readers can form a relationship with the magazine it becomes personal to me the writer and the audience this is important as it offers what alot of magazines don't offer a communciation between readers. On the bottom of the page I offer competitons and offers this is important as giving readers more than what they paid for will keep them happy and gain loyalty.

Now, to the design of my front cover which for me is the most important part of my magazine because it is the first impression people will make of the magazine as it is the first thing anyone will see. I've decided for it not to have too much infromation on the front cover as i want all infromation for the readers in the magazine as they should get their moneys worth so as you can see i'm simply stating key information on front cover, information that people need to know being buying like who the magazine will be focusing on, issue date, price and also what they will be reading about. As you can see by my flat plan the image my main one will dominate the whole image as the band that the image if of will be heavily wrote about throughout the magazine so it is important for consumers to know this is why they are buying the magazine. Also, within my front cover I will be using a pull quote to persuade my target audience to want to read the article inside.

The double page spread; one page will be a photo only as the second page will be a full interview with the band thats on the opposite page. The colour scheme of the whole magazine is black and white so the first page will be a black and white image therefore the second page will be white background with black writing to compliment the magazines colour scheme. Page numbers will be on the bottom left on every page also the headline of the interview yet again will be a quote from the interview itself. Again, the masthead will be at the top of every page just to create an identiy of the magazines look.
